Parenting Tip of the Month: 25 Gifts in 25 Days that won’t Cost you a Thing

by | Dec 1, 2017

Tis the season of giving. Giving to your kids, your partner, your family, your friends.  As a parent, all of this giving can be exhausting and stressful. Unless, that is, you find it relaxing to fight crowds at busy stores and spend hours in long lines trying to make sure you got your kids the hot item this year.  Yea, I didn’t think so.

So, here is my gift to you. 25 gift ideas in 25 days, all of which won’t cost you a dime but will help you to take care of yourself too this holiday season.

Day 1
Give the gift of time: Families are busier than ever these days. Kids are in multiple activities, one or both parents are working, and there are always to do lists to be completed. What has suffered with this increase in engagement in activities outside of the house is time and connection with each other at home. As parents, lead the way in increasing time with your family at home. Put away the phones and computers, eat dinner together, play games, and/or take walks. I would bet that when you think about your childhood, it is not a toy you received for Christmas when you are 12 that sticks out in your memory but rather a special time you had with your family. Give yourself and your children those memories by putting a concerted effort into connecting more this holiday season (and beyond).
