School Based Therapy

How is it Unique?

As a therapist and new parent, I know that families today have very hectic schedules. Between work, homework, sports, and family time, it can be next to impossible to find time to schedule therapy. As a therapist with the Linkages to Learning Program for the past 6 years, I understand the benefits of having school based therapy services. Not only is it often most convenient for parents and adolescents, but, it allows for regular school collaboration.

Because adolescents spend most of their day in school, it is no surprise that it is the place where they experience their greatest achievements and face their most significant challenges. It has been my experience that much of what an adolescent talks about in therapy is related to experiences that occur during their school day. As a therapist, it can be invaluable to have unique insight into their school environment. I also believe strongly that it is important to provide school staff with insight and helpful tools to better support your adolescent. Being present for sessions at school allows for more regular and more open communication and collaboration with school staff. Holistic care really helps create positive long lasting change for both the adolescent and their family.

How it works

Intake Session: In order to get an understanding of your family’s unique strengths and challenges, I require an initial family intake meeting at my office.

School Contact: I reach out to your child’s school to schedule a time and office space to meet with your child during the school day.

Subsequent Sessions: I am available to meet with your child up to three times per month at their school. I do require one family meeting in my office per month. While school based therapy is helpful, I believe it is also important for an adolescent’s family to be active in their treatment.

Travel Fees: Please note that there is a travel fee for all school based services.

  • A $10 travel fee will be applied to schools within a 10 mile radius of my office
  • A $15 dollar travel fee will be applied to schools outside a 10 mile radius of my office.
